How to set up unified chat for Twitch, YouTube and Kick

Open Chat → Set up → Channels, add Twitch, YouTube and Kick, and click Connect. Reading chat doesn't require Corneta to publish the messages on your video.

Tested with
Corneta 0.6.0 (Windows 11)

Add the channels

  1. Open Chat.
  2. Click Set up.
  3. Go to the Channels tab.
  4. Click Add channel and choose the platform.
  5. Fill in the identifier it asks for and leave the channel turned on.
  6. Close the setup and click Connect.

The expected state is a green dot next to each channel. With Connect the chat for me when I go live turned on, Corneta connects the chat when you go live.

Since 0.9.0, if you already signed in to Twitch, YouTube or Kick in the Account tab, the Channels tab shows From your connected accounts with that account's channel already filled in. Click Add its chat instead of following steps 4 and 5.

What works without signing in

Reading, emotes, badges and timestamps depend on the connector and on what the platform makes public. To send messages and moderate, sign in to your account in the Account tab; the available actions differ between Twitch, YouTube and Kick.

Reply and moderate from the feed

Hover over a message to see the actions. They use your account and only show up on the platform you signed in to; if the account isn't the owner or a moderator of that channel, the platform rejects the action.

  • Reply puts the reply in the send field and sends it only to the channel the message came from. On Twitch and Kick, the reply is linked to the original message. YouTube live chat has no threaded replies, so it goes out with an @name mention. Esc cancels.
  • Delete removes the message on the platform.
  • Time out 10 min and Ban take effect right away, with no confirmation. Since 0.9.0, they also show up on YouTube and Kick when the message carries the sender's ID; without that ID, only Delete is left.
  • On Kick, the first timeout or ban attempt asks for one more permission. Click Reconnect in the notice and authorize it on the Kick page.
