Short answer
- Aitum Multistream: best if you want extra outputs tightly integrated into OBS and you use the Aitum ecosystem.
- Multiple RTMP Outputs: best if you want a direct, flexible plugin and already know the encoder details.
- Restream: best for reducing local upload and running everything through a cloud service.
- Corneta: best if you want local distribution with per-destination control, chat, alerts, metrics and a report in a separate app.
No option wins at everything.
How we tested
On August 1, 2026, we used a portable OBS 32.2.1 on Windows 11. Aitum Multistream 1.0.8 and Multiple RTMP Outputs 0.7.4.0 loaded together and exposed their controls in OBS. In Corneta 0.6.0, we repeated setup, load estimation and destination control.
Restream requires an account to run an output. We reviewed the public flow, the free plan and the official documentation, but we didn't stream through it. So we didn't compare latency or stability across the four.
Practical matrix
| Factor | Aitum | Multiple RTMP | Restream | Corneta |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Architecture | local plugin | local plugin | cloud relay | local app |
| Where you control it | inside OBS | inside OBS | browser | separate app |
| Local upload | sum of the outputs | sum of the outputs | one output to the cloud | sum of the outputs |
| Installation | OBS-compatible plugin | OBS-compatible plugin | account and web setup | Windows app + RTMP source |
| Per-destination settings | yes | yes | depends on the plan and flow | copy or re-encode per destination |
| Vertical | integrates with the Aitum ecosystem | depends on your OBS composition | features vary by plan | manual 9:16 crop per destination |
| Chat and alerts | outside the plugin's core | outside the plugin's core | its own features | unified in the app |
| Post-stream diagnostics | OBS logs | OBS logs | the service's analytics | local report per destination |
| Core cost | free | free | free with limits; paid plans | free |
Restream's prices and limits change. Check the current plan before you decide.
Where each option is strong
Aitum Multistream
It stays where you already work. It's especially appealing if you also use Aitum's vertical canvas and want to control outputs without switching apps.
Multiple RTMP Outputs
It's direct and lets you share the encoder with OBS's main output. It makes sense if you prefer to build your own flow and don't need an operations or reporting layer.
Restream
It solves the structural upload bottleneck: one stream leaves your home and the service replicates it. It also spares you from installing a plugin, but it puts an account, a plan and the cloud in the path.
Corneta
It separates distribution from the OBS interface and shows each destination as an independent connection. Beyond video, it brings together chat, alerts, statuses and the report. The price of that visibility is opening another app and using upload for each output.
OBS is recommended because of the automatic setup, start/stop control and built-in stats. Corneta also receives the signal from other RTMP-compatible programs, set up manually; that doesn't offer the same integration with those programs.
Go with your first “yes”
- Your upload can't handle the sum? Start with Restream or another cloud relay.
- Want everything inside OBS? Try Aitum and Multiple RTMP.
- Is an independent vertical output the core of your setup? Look at the Aitum ecosystem.
- Want operation and diagnostics outside OBS? Try Corneta.
- Only need to duplicate an identical signal? A simple plugin may be enough.
If you're still torn between local and cloud, use the Corneta or Restream comparison with your upload speed at hand.
